Time & Location

20 June 2023, 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm

Mona Vale, 64 Darley St, Mona Vale NSW 2103, Australia

About the event

Breathing basics and assessment - students will learn how to develop better awareness of diaphragm and nasal breathing. Benefits of diaphragmatic breathing include reduced stress, lower heart rate and blood pressure, improved core stability and exercise performance.

Benefits of nasal breathing including filtering the air before it enters the lungs, increased oxygen uptake, helps prevent cold and flu, reduced moisture loss and promotes activity of the parasympathetic nervous system.

The assessment will be a carbon dioxide tolerance test. I will provide some tools for the students to help increase their CO2 tolerance. Increased CO2 tolerance helps with increasing delivery of oxygen to cells and tissues which improves performance and cognition.

The breath of techniques will allow students to up or down regulate their nervous system depending on their goals. Students will have strategies for accessing their parasympathetic nervous system, which will help with stress management and relaxation.
